Shaheen, they smell like they had a hectic party and the colour changes slightly, but it doesn't seem to affect the fish. I heard the tip from someone and was terribly sceptical about it, the smell thing bugged me, but I thought it was worth a shot and tried it.
I had good takes on it, used it as cracker on its own or mussel with cracker around it.
Unfortunately didn't hook up, but every time there would be a solid hit and cracker is gone.
Pignose Grunters (White Steenbras) was going ape for it.
They are such fickle fish, if they don't mind, if they reckon its ok, I think it is good for any fish.

When are you going or have you been fishing with it already?
Would like your feedback, keep me posted.

If you are going to freeze them, do it individually. All I know is I have tried with mud prawn on a few occasions and failed. Rather pump and use fresh, pink prawn will work just as well as any frozen cracker.
Best way to keap you pink and mud prawn frech overnight is in a bear box cover with damped new paper in the fridge. Mud prawn doesn't like to be in water. Pink prawn can be kept in fresh ocean waterwith a llive bait pump for a day or two.

Thanks Lofty,

I will definitely try that option sometime as well.
Any good idea is always welcome and live or freshest possible bait always a winner.

HI CHAPS.

first off the fishing wasn't good but the time spent with the family was well worth the effort. the results of the bait test:

bombastic cracker = 1 snapper and countless palm sized odds and sods
ginger prawn = 0
sardine belly = 2 smallish grunter
sard fillet back to back = 1 x 2kg kob
occie strip at the mouth = 0

all the fishing was done around the river only, nothing at the surf

Great, glad you had a good time with family and got some fishing done too.
What do you think of the drunk crackers?
Did the preserve well?
