Some Feedback!Did some drag testing on reels today, and only reel that passed the test,is a Carbontex drag reel.

Got 7 multiplier reels.I did a Max drag test on all,and a Saltist 30TH was only reel that went past the 18lb test,as that's the limit of my scale. It was only reel that has Carbontex washers installed.

Was kind of shell shocked,as could've been in major trouble with major fish on board.

In most of the reels, the line broke at certain  drag tests due to rough ride on washers, and that at a mere 6,7 or 8 lb.Which may have resulted in a lost fish.Hence the mention of smooth drag with Carbontex being a big positive.Hate to lose a fish due to bad or rough drag.

Alan Talani, international reel guru, has been around the angling block, and I'm going to go with him on Carbontex.Check his site out.

IMHO,Got to also go with 90% other anglers,as Carbontex has been extensively researched as tops by so many after so many experimentations wrt drag tests across the board.

You can get small sheets of Carbontex from Australia and it works out very cheap, I have done about 7 reels from one sheet with some to spare. The sheet is A5 size and costs R250, the only problem is you need to cut/punch the washers out. I got a 10kg YFT in a refurbed TLD 15 the other day and it was like a brand new drag!! :rck"
Just Fish!!!

Thanks,DB!

My Carbontex is arriving within next 2 weeks for 6 reels. At same time, going to replace all the bearings.

Was going to buy new BG30,may yet still get one,but in meantime, want to get my present reels ready for some future trips,as well as some winter fishing.

A Buddy tells me he's drag went up from 13lb to 23 lbs,and he's been having fun with smaller reels and bigger species.

Cheers
