Bonefish on ultralight tackle - Durban Harbour
« on: January 17, 2014, 03:14:55 PM »
This bonefish was caught off my boat yesterday in the harbour - Berkley ultralite spinning rod and Daiwa BG10 on 6lb mono. It put up a huge fight and took the rod to its limits.

Again - taking the laaities out fishing and handing over all fish! So I never landed it - but it gave me great pleasure to see the young man land the fish under instruction on use of the drag, rod angle, controlling the fish to prevent it going under the boat etc

I have caught my fair share of Bonefish fly fishing in Acension Bay in the Yucatan  (Mexico) - so did not mind handing the rod over

I forgot that I was dreaming of that!

Caught on the harbour "flats" - i.e. on the centre island!

Going there again tomorrow  - and this time with a "ballie" fly fisherman who reckons he can catch a boney or two - I doubt it very much, I am sure it was a rare once off

just shows how the water quality in the harbour has improved, well done
when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA
