Cape Vidal Marlin Comp 2019
« on: February 11, 2019, 04:16:52 pm »
Went back to Cape Vidal for the marlin comp last week. Comp was from Monday to Friday(a day less than previous years). weather conditions weren't great, had 2 full days of marlin fishing and a third day was called off at around 7am. 18 boats fished and only 6 marlin released. My Son won the comp with 2 fish. We managed to bag 1. Heaviest gamefish was a YFT of 13kgs.  Conditions weren't great for marlin fishing but we fished the blow out days for dorado and had good fishing. Couple couta around as well. Was great to be back there, my favourite place.

Thanks for the report Kev...and well done on the marlin you got! Tough going if only 6 were released between 18 boats . In what areas were those fish holding?
Only dead fish go with the flow...

Thanks guys
We picked ours up on 100m off the point at 05h40, nice and early for a change before the sun got to high. Think the rest were all between 100-250m between the point and halfway
