Guys just a quick one picked up my new boat a few weeks ago haven't had a chance to put it on the water yet so today i decided to pull her out garage and get it ready for her first trip and started up the motors when i stood at the back of the boat i noticed the port side motor is turned slightly right and starboard motor is dead straight is this something i should be worried about?

Look its certainly not going to be dangerous or anything like that, but you are correct in saying that it is not correct. Its more than likely a quick fix, but I would insist that the dealer sorts it out. It may effect the boats trim adversly and it certainly wont help your fuel con.

yes just adjust your tie rod so the are both pointing dead strait in line with your keel strips. otherwise you wasting petrol as one gearbox will all ways be pushing a bit of water post picture

Deepblu, first post a pic, maybe not necessary to take it all the way to Durban not rocket science to adjusting tie rod.

Howzit Rory, I did thank you found that the connecting rod was about 10mm to long a quick cut and ran the die nut over the threads sorted the problem out!!! another question my starboard motor controller is a lill sticky will this loosen up with time as it is still a new boat ?? once again thank u to all for your advice

Deepblu, Is it hydraulic or push pull steering?

There shouldn't be more friction on the one control than the other.

If one of the throttle's is stiffer than the other there may be slightly sharper curve in the cables to that motor if that looks ok then check your control box, there's a little screw that can be adjusted with a flat screw driver to adjust the amount of friction on the lever.

thats strange as should be the easier of the two routings check for sharp bends

if you can take a picture sure we can sort it out chop chop the cable should come out of motor make a nice loop then go through your false transom and up to control box. The merc come with there cables standard and are pretty good but for tight bends the only cables to use are the teleflex extreme range

@Rory i played around with friction knob seemed to sort out the problem.

Ok guys so i was able to put the boat on the water for the first time unfortunately not the sea but the vaaldam. Time to put her thru her paces first time round we were 2 up on the boat bought her on the plane as she got on the plain the boat started dip to the left i didn't think much of this as i didn't take note of my revs. Second time round it did the same thing this time i made sure my revs were the same is was sitting at 4000rpm. Third trip around i had 5 crew members on board making sure i place the wieght as even as i could, again i opened up the throttle to bring her on the plain the nose had just come down when the boat dipped to left again this time it was bad. The response from my crew was "that wasn't cool thought we were gonna flip " what would cause the boat to cavitate hope this is the right word to use sorry I'm very new to ski boats what do i do to correct this?

your boat should not be doing this, make sure both motors are trimmed down the same degree. you will have to play around till you found the sweet spot you need to trim the motors out a bit to lift the nose.

The sailfish is basically a Cobra cat hull, isn't it?
