Hi Fishy76,

Please take some time to introduce yourself to us. This might help in getting a response on UA.

Also, Vidal has been the topic of many conversations, both offshore and RS. So just use the search function and you will find a ton of info.

Hope you enjoy UA

Apologies for no introduction. I live in KZN, fished South Coast and Durban while I lived down there. I like all facets of fishing, but lure angling is my favourite. For rock and surf i use an Elbe Waverunner with Shimano Torium 30. For spinning i have a few rods but my best is Shimano 10ft with Daiwa Exceler 4000. I look forward to getting to know you all here on UA. Thank you.

Ok so the weekend has come and gone. What a beautiful place Cape Vidal is. Fishing brought mixed success, with a few shad, Russel's snapper, Wave Garrick and Mooneys...

Wind was howling for a lot of the weekend but it was worth it.

There was however some issues with some visitors that thought it good to go dune riding with their 4x4's leaving the Parks Board fuming. Alcohol obviously ruled that night. It is a shame that people like that still get to visit places like Vidal. I surely hope they got a massive fine.

Cheers all.

Hi Gords,

We did not launch, only rock and surf and some spinning.

Any report on the Condition of the Accomodation - Monkeys - Break ins ( Heard some stories ) ?

Also can the Trip be done in a 4 X 2  SUV Tiguan - Auto ??

Good to see you got some nice fish Fishy, did you take any photos?

The trip can be done in any car Vic, what a great place.

We stayed in St Lucia about 2 years ago and we went to Cape Vidal from there, its a nice tared road through the national park so the wild life is thick, what a great place.

Im seriously contemplating a trip down there at the end of the year for 2 weeks. 1 week in Jozini and 1 week in Cape Vidal/ st Lucia. :yipee:
Reach for a bream!

Hi Vic

As gavin said the trip can be made in any car. Paved road right into the Cape Vidal Camp.

I don't think break-ins are much of a problem, you don't have any people staying near the Vidal camp as it is in the reserve. The main problem is monkeys. They can open a closed cabin door, so keep it locked. Keep windows closed too.

Apparently contractors are starting to do some upgrades to the cabins due for completion in December.

We also fished at night with no problems encountered. Did not see a soul all night.

I definitely want to go back there soon.

Cheers guys.
