Am report on our East Coast from Gonubie to Kei

..Oh ja..Thanks Sir...jip it does.....well this stretch of coast does not see too many people due to the distance and also the land is 99% private that joins the coast here...so hence the last 15 years or so its pretty unspoilt...

Hi Charles.... ..well the ole legs were just fine BUT this trippie my shoulders took a bit of strain and of course I forgot my lightweight high density thin foam mattress and my hips found the sand to be pretty hard....LOL..BUT...the next trippie to here is already in the planning stages...so watch this space....

  Good mornings East Coasters....well we having some much needed rain and lets hope this wetness lifts a bit of the dryness thats hit the local farmers in our areas.....[/size]NOW...getting to this weekends fishing , its going to be a dicey one and to get the timing right is the trick here for this weekend....A serious looking high has split two cold fronts , one of which we experiencing at the moment and the baro has risen to 1019hpk and still on the rise...BUT ..will start dropping by mid morning tomorrow as that second front makes landfall..Sooooo....IF I was a betting man , tomorrow AM would be a good time to go wet a line and then as that baro turns to rise on Sunday AM would be another good time....The thing here is we dont know how fast that cold front is approaching and how stubborn the high pressure is ....BUT....[/color]
Its to see when that barometer turns and starts to rise after that second front has been through....
For Saturday its a high at 06h00 and on Sunday at 06h45...Sat will see a stiff east come through and then tap off towards the arvie as that front settles in....Then the west will puff through the evening and Sunday am will see a light air coming through...BUT...once again we cannot determine the speed of that front....Sooo...those that want to fish will have to watch the systems closely...
Spots to lookout for will be Glen gariff...Cefani left of the river and even Cintsa is looking good on a high at the moment ....the water is at 17 and most areas are fairly clean to clear....IF this rain is further inland we could see the Nahoon , Gonubie and Kwelera rivers flowin brown a bit...
It seems the deep sea Marion sea state predicts an inshore swell between 7 to 10 foot ...So please be aware on the rocks this weekend , although its an inbetween tide , still expect some surge , should that sea state pick up...

  Mornings East Coasters.......well Folks we have two fronts about to move through our area and we can expect west wind right through untill Tuesday....With that west possibly getting up to gale force on Monday and coupled with a big swell running , predicted at over 10 foot...Soo lets be careful at the waters edge this weekend and with a bright moon spring approaching for Wednesday...[/size]You have a low tide at 08h00 tomorrow ...08h30 on Sunday and those fortunate to be off on Monday , a low at 09h15......So , some really good looking tides for the Jikeleza and most spots on our East Coast works well on these early AM low tides.......[/color]
Cintsa point with this west approaching could be an option , just watch that swell......Bulugha point an option BUT on the wild side would be better on a west wind.....Glengariff is always a good option on these early AM low tides......Cefane to the right also a very good option......A little on the Jikeleza fringe is a walk to Bonzas might also be an option early early before that west really gets up to speed tomorrow AM....
ONLY thing is the water is pretty chilly at 13 BUT as Richard Vlantisproved the fish and kob especially will still feed and dont discount a chance at a piggy with this chilly water...
There will be some rain as well the next three days and that is always welcome.
Another East Coaster Abrie Erasmus got a really nice kob yesterday aswell , so Folks , the time put in will produce the results....

  [size=78%]Evening  Folks ...I am a bit early on the weekends fishing report as I have a  early AM start and will only get to do the report later in the day  and some East Coasters start their weekends a tad earlier than  others...[/size] 
 
So  , with that in mind we are entering what looks like it could be a  good fishing weekend. We have a cold front passing through our area  over the next 48 hours and a high ridging right behind it. This then  has us coming off a west wind and a rising barometer , two good  indications for some decent opportunities to get into our kob ,  silvers and poensies. The shad too have been making a showing along  our Jikeleza...

 
Tides  are looking good with early AM lows on Saturday at 05h30 and with a  change over of tides on Sat ...Sundays low is at 07h00...

 
NOW...most  spots on the Jikeleza fish very well on these early AM tides . Cintsa  point , Bulugha point , GlenGariff ….Kwelerga on the Village side  is also very good for silvers and poensies...Also worth the trip is  Haga and Double Mouth...Cefane , walking to the left and in front of  kwenurgha is also a good spot for those drop shotists...

 
The  water temp is a good 18 and at the moment no surge expected with a 6  to 8 foot swell predicted...So , working water will not be hard to  find with these tides...Two lows at the best times of the day one  early AM and one late arvie...

 
Two  fisherman this past week have had some good success along the  Jikeleza with silvers and using good ole fashioned red bait...Dont  forget about this versatile natural bait. Remember , cut what you  need and use as and when.

 
Once  again on the fringe of the Jikeleza , Bonzas is worth a look with  these tides and I believe that some of the ledges are nice and washed  out. On the low , closer to Gonubie , just past Danger point you will  find very nice ledges that hold silvers and plenty blues....

 
On  the subject of blues , CONGRATS to local blues master Trevor Browne  on his 200 milestone blue fish!!!...WELL DONE indeed!!!

  Mornings East Coasters...well , its been many moons since Ive seen the baro pushed to the top of the glass as i have seen it the last few days and its topped out at 1034hpk!!!!.....What this tells me is that we are in for a MEAN beastly eastly...BUT ...we do have a coastal low creeping up the coast and a fair sized cold front hanging off Cape Town.....This might just just negate this VERY serious high pressure and the east might not come through as expected...but , by all acc[/size]ounts the east will blow this weekend with the odd north wind thrown in between , known in the cape as the devil wind....[/color]
Also of note is that there is a pretty strong east ground swell running and during this weekend that swell will change to a ssw direction and the swell will pick up between 6 to 8 foot ....So , watch those pushing tides should you be fishing a low tide spot...
Tomorrow you have a low tide at 11h00 and on Sunday at 11h45 ...we have just come off a dark moon spring and the water temp is not bad at 18.....As of yesterday it still looks fairly clean BUt I did notice the Gonubie and Nahoon rivers looking a tad grubby...
Spots to look out for , with the east expected would be Bulugha fishing towards the Glen Gariff side .....Cintsa , west of the tidal pool , Kwelerga village is also fairly protected from the east and if you feel like a drive Pullins bay out Haga way also has some nice ledges to fish on an east as well as Double Mouth ...BUT..if the sea is up and surging then these two spots might be a tad difficult..
Ive heard of no reports of catches coming through this week and lets hope we get some action this weekend .

  Mornings East Coasters , well as I sit and write this we can see by the early mornings we are entering our winter months and numerous catches of shad have been had and one or two Aloes are starting to show their colours....

This weekends fishing sees us on a bright moon spring and a fair amount of cold front systems passing our southern shore tip .....this in turn has created a deep sea ground swell and we can expect a swell running from Saturday onwards in the 10 to 12 foot region , now whether that hits our Jikeleza shore line or not is the million dollar question AND with it , bringing a surge ...
So , with the added springs please be VERY aware when you at your low tide spots on the low tide , those surges can catch one out....
With this in mind , tomorrow AM you have a low at 10h30 and on Sunday the low is at 11h00...
The water has cleaned up nicely and there will still be the odd grubby patches along the coast....your deep water points like Cintsa , Bulugha , Kwelerga should be clean already...
The water temp is still chilly around the 15 mark , although certain spots will feel warmer than others..
At the moment the swell range is in the 5 to 6 foot range with an even swell running. The wind today will be light east and variable and as that next front hits later this evening the west will blow gale tomorrow and the expected big seas....
Spots to look out for would be Cintsa point....Chefane to the right as the tide goes out and Glen Gariff would also be a good option.....IF the sea is not too big then Double Mouth would also be good on these tides....
Gonubie on the Wooden shoe to German bay side has been giving up its blues this past week and that might be an option as well...another spot often overlooked is the Glen Muire and Glen Navar areas as well as Queensbury which also holds its fair share of shad....

  Mornings East Coasters...well , as we look at that synoptic it tells a very beastly eastly story for this weekend I am afraid....This coupled with a big ground swell running from those intense cold fronts slipping off south and swells of 20 odd feet running past Marion......The roaring Forties is truely living up to its name!!!....Although we have had west for the past 4 days and the water is very clean and quite warm.....[/size]Sooo...the secret this weekend is going to be to find a corner out of the east OR hope that the early AM tomorrow is still calm before the east blasts through.....[/color]
Tomorrow you have a low at 10h00 and on Sunday at 10h55...very nice outgoing tides for a early AM session and also nice tides for most spots along the Jikeleza...
Cintsa Point....Kwelerga.....Glen Gariff....Queensbury and Gonubie Point are all good options if you hunting some "piranaha"...AKA shad....
News of kob has been fairly quite and I have heard murmurs of yellow tail "seen" at a few spots on the Jikeleza......Should you find a gap this weekend out of the wind and a fairly calmish stretch of water , then dont forget a surface plug or two....
Well , Folks , other than the water temp and colour looking good Im not too excited about prospects this weekend ...BUT....as the saying goes , no line in the water , no chance!!!!...
