very interested in this thread, looking for something similar, for spinning, have a couple 9" rods for dropshot but not really one to cast spinners and poppers of say 1 1/2 to 4 ounce.10'6 sounds good for length, have a 4000 Penn fierce reel, might need to upgrade from that and load maby 30lb braid :dunno: :happ:

Nicky , the Berkley Venom (Blood Python) is an awesome 10 ft rod , rated to throw from 3/4 oz to 4 oz........... just a bit pricey , i looked at one the other day ,very nice indeed and as light as can be , perfect for spinning all day.

i stand to be corrected but in two different tackle shops , one was marked at R2400 and R3000 in the other... :shk  , there is an 11ft version as well the (Taipan) same rating , just a bit longer and even more expensive.. :shk  , but the 10ft just feels right in the hands , would like to have a test cast with one , or maybe some one on U.A has one and can give some feedback on this rod ... :dunno:

:cnfzd .. have hunted websites hi and lo to get specs on this rod , but could find none so went off to the tackle shops i frequent and et voila ... there they were , man was my right hand itching , luckily my left hand dragged me out by the collar otherwise i'd be in beeg trouble, still though its what we all looking for the do it all rod that covers a vast casting weight when spinning .... oh well maybe one day... :craz:

Thanks mike, i'm itching to see this rod. if i fall in love with it, i think i have a plan, its going to have to happen over two months then, saving for it. Give the money to my brother(better angler than me with lots of gear, his mrs can't keep track of his gear anymore) to buy the rod for me. (store it then at his house, living also in Mbay). the cover is that he lends it to me when i'm going fishing. Rod is going to have to stay with my boet for 4-6 months, where after he'll sell it to me at "halve price". hope i then survive me mrs (bat .       :rck" :hyst:   what do you think of this plan? :creep: :creep: :creep: .  :dunno: . mayb   mayb :nail: ... :yipee:

:tkx: guys for all the input..

The Berkley's are nice but for a rod that price you would expect better guides. That was the only gripe I had with my original Berkley Air. The blank was excellent though.

The Exceller Elite has proper Fuji K series guides. You will not foul a guide with this rod. I replaced my original Berkley's guides with K guides and it made a world of difference. And the blank is not bad too.

Thanks Mike, Bergie, Nicky & Lenny. i checked Go Fish/Shawn tackle shop in MBay has the BM TheRaptor for R750. is that what they go for?

Seems fine , other rods in that price range worthwile looking at are Sensasion Dominator / Adrenalin Drpshop rod / Shimano Vergange , they are all in that price range .

yes at mo i'm only targeting eds, but won't mind getting hooked on ineds. Will later focus on the bigger stuff, when i'm getting settled with my surf&rOck setup and my ability to land whats on the hook.

Thanks Lenny and poenskop for bringing me back to the subject at hand, i'll look into your suggestions.  :tkx:

I am a DIE HARd SHIMANO fan ! So basicly I am bias to Shimano ,and have plenty of reason to be ! lol a very good Shimano Semetyer or The cheaper option Solstace [250 to 600 bucks ], NEVER buy a grinder with a reardrag.
Whats your Budget ?
a baby Shreros are also nice .

The range of Peen reels also been receiving good feedback , I am not a fan a a Sargus  [PO]
I know Mike Pike  gave  you advice on Daiwa grinders and Ray hall can help too  , there many guys use them .
You can take members like above mentioned , Serijaaaas . w;k
