Eish, I hope the guys are ok, the boat and Land Rover can be replaced, they're only material possessions

Message from Mike... their trip was delayed somewhat when they came across a massive accident just outside Pongola. A BIG boat being towed by a LandRover on the way down to Sodwana rolled. The driver was caught inside the vehicle and so they waited with him until ambulances arrived.
Boat and Landy completely totalled/written off.... Trailer in the veld, boat upside down nearby... eish... not nice  :-(
Driver sustained some injuries, but should be ok.
Yip not a nice sight , was a Seacat 565 boat name was "Upstream" , looked like the driver swerved for something in the road , but his wife travelling behind in another Landy witnessed it happen and says it looked like the wind lifted the boat and trailer and rolled everything over , felt terrible for the driver/owners sake... :-( , luckily medical assistance was quickly on its way so by the time we left ambulance and medical staff had arrived , hope he is ok , it looked rather uncomfortable in that Landy and u could ear he was in a lot of pain , the boat was pretty much totalled and motors as well , so far not much else arrived here , unpacked sorted out stuff etc , boats on the water and tomorrow 5:30 am the fishing begins , will do mostly lake 2 and the mouth late afternoons , i've left the camera cable behind and the card reader.. duh but will try make a plan with some pics , Thats the plan Sidd , small liveys at the mouth for the  :gt: , will keep you"s posted if something big comes along .... sorry got to go and get another beer out the fridge ........ :hehe: .

Kosi beach is raked clean from end to end and i patiently sit here and wash my bait ... :hyst:   :hyst: ... fishing is very slow , lake 3 is as dead as a doornail , lake 2 has a gazillion thornfish of which me and the missus have more than likely caught 500 000 between the 2 of us... :cnfzd ... havent been thru to lake 1 rumour has it its full of swimming crabs and im not wasting bait on that lot , lets see i've used pinkprawn= thorn fish  / cracker shrimp or sand prawn = thornfish , a host of soft plastics = thornfish , sards in any form or shape u can think of = zilch, nada , niks  , babysquid = zilch nada niks , ...will give lake 2 and 1 a couple of more attempts still ,  (bat ... R/S ... High tide yesterday slid Chokka , Bonnie , and Mackeral  = zilch , baits came back better looking than when they went out... :shk .... beach did look like a bit of a cane forest at one point and some one further down south , close to the mouth got something that resembeled a decent size GT.... swr .... tomorrow is D-Day for edibles off the beach and 28th is D-Day for in-eds as theres a full spring high late afternoon + a bit of nite fishing as well ...... i never give up .... watch this space for forthcoming attractions........ :hnthnt: . :hnthnt: .

we fished there a few years back and caught zilch on thorn fish baits, we got a local gillie who got us cracker prawn which we got some grunter in lake 1 on, I gave the gillie a small rod and he caught live bait for us, the non thorn fish worked well we caught lots of pikehandle barra's but no kingies. Probably pays to take a cast net with you and give it to a gillie, they don't get into k*k for using one

Spinning in lake 1 is always an option. But be careful in the canal joining lake 1 & 2, we found a croc there of about 1,8m, also a small hippo in lake 1, would have thought it would have been to brackish for him, but I guess he was on his holidays  :crzy
when I die, may my wife not sell my fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it... and I have bought more, a severe case of TA

So did an afternoon session at the mouth again , and opted not to slide big baits but focus on the edibles instead  , water had some good colour , but a monster sidewash running south to north ... :shk  anyway perservered and managed a 63 cm Seapike (pickhandle barracuda ) and 10 mins later a 34 cm wave garrick , was great fun pity i cant post the pics yet will do so as soon as im back at home , caught both fish on whole sardine about 1hr 45 after full high as it was getting dark , would have liked to stay a bit longer , but the parksboard gate closes at 6pm  :unhap ... luckily we left when we did as it came bucketing down as we reached the car... :rck"  , pretty chuffed with the catches for today ......... roll on the 28th spring high at 16:45...... :rck"   :rck" , will keep you"s in the loop , tomorrow is lake 2 and 1 , but 1st to get some liveys (pouter/glassies ) and was watching a 150yr old local , and he was catching them on earthworms... :shk  , so you can guess what im going fishing with at sparrows tomorrow morning , you guessed right a bucket and a spade .. :crzy

Right , so finally back home again and can finish off the last couple of days events and post the pics as promised , 27th was uneventful as there was some heavy rain on night of 26th and wind picked up on the lakes as well , so had to trailer the boat to drain water out the hull.... :shk .... this is the sign at the gate to the path that runs down to lake 3
