I have always wondered why we do not get more bigger shad in KZN?

The best time to fish for those big boys is first week in December as season opens. Early morning works wonders. Seen some big boys come in off Nyoni rocks looked like a Garrick. Easy 5Kgs. Seen 3-4 come out in 30 mins at Toti

Those bigger shad are in Durban as Happy Dog said December is best for them.
Got this one around 5Kg's at the end of dec a fews years back

Got a few 5 killo and plenty 3 killo in KZN last year. Even managed a 9 killo.

very good size  :shd: those...one of my favourite eating fish.Still need to catch a siza like that at Gouritzriver some time :hnthnt: :fshn: One took both my hooks a while ago in the mouth at Gouritz while sliding for kob with live mullet,put steel trace on and no bite... duh :-( :unhap :hehe: they can get to 9/10 kg here too and more 3/4/5kg region,still searching...and hoping
