This rod has caused a huge positive feedback. I am humbled by the huge response.
Never did I imagine that I was going to get such a response locally and from overseas.
Seems like Reefz's rod has turned out to be my marketing rod for 2013 :hehe:

I have done a few things in the past that has gone overseas, but this rod has sparked some new found interest in what I do. Had some positive inquiries. So thank you kind sir.

Still awaiting a response from Basil Manning. When I asked Shaun for the logo, he asked me to send him pics of the rod once done. So I am pretty keen to hear what they have to say about your rod.

I've spent many long days and nights fishing on some remote coastline with Tony and his beloved Assassin which started looking the worse for wear from being fished hard , and i tell you that has got to be the best looking Assassin out there at the moment and i think for years to come , Koos your skills and attention to detail are amazing and im sure Tony is going to be one chuffed angler on the beach with that masterpiece you have breathed new life into .....and heres the good part im more than likely going to be present the day he  gets his 1st take on that Assassin .....

I was thinking the same thing, was def time for a rebuild. What a job! I am gobsmacked! She's simply beautiful! Well done E.T! Guess where my future rods are going for a rebuild!  :hnthnt:

So here's an update on my not so silent Assassin...

Unfortunately, the guides chosen to refurb this rod more than 2 years ago were essentially Stiff Boat rod guides. These heavy duty Boat Rod guides changed the action of the blank completely. A 4-6oz rod became an 8oz pole, with very little sensitivity. This was not really ideal. The Vinyl Graphics also bubbled and peeled off, which was disappointing.
So after doing some research, decided that I wanted the action of my old blank back. Fishatic did some CAD designs with different guides, and he came up with a recommendation of using Fugi KWAG's with Alconite centre's... Unfortunately, the rod had to be stripped of all the beautiful Red candy paint, but the end result, although not as bling as it once was, is still very pretty, but most importantly, I can now cast 5oz sinkers with ease again - something i couldn't do previously! Very chuffed to have the action back better than ever!

Also slimmed the butt down to slimline size and got rid of the flip up guide... well done Brandon! We have some gifted rodbuilders in the country!

Now is not a good time to go fishing... said nobody... EVER!!

Interesting  thread, who would have thaught that new guides could have such an effect on the blanks action and weight rating, very interesting read.
Lets go FISHING!
