Easy Peazy Floating Wading Stick
« on: January 29, 2013, 02:53:05 PM »
I needed to make someone a wading stick/staff.
So I bought everything new, but a used butt section of a surf rod should work just as well.

Here is what I used and the costs:
1 x Fiberglass Rod 1500mm long and tapers from 25 to 19mm R409.25 this included delivery
2 x Rubber Stoppers 25mm top and 18.5mm on the bottom @ R3.75 each
1 x Flocked Shrink Wrap - R90
1 x Boat Canopy Bracket  - R20
2 x Marine Carribine Clips - @ R30 each
2 x Quick Release Rope Grippers/snappers @ R1.75 each
1 x 2m Rope @ R3.80

Total Cost - R594.05

Now if I had a spare butt section, the total cost would have been R184.80

A few snaps....

Howzit Nicky,

Wading sticks are used when fishing the Vaal river on fly. Helps to keep your balance and feel the bottom of the river for boulders etc.
A MUST for the Vaal !

This one is going to aid someone with some balance fishing the streams around Rhodes. Wading staffs/sticks also serves as pretty useful equipment whilst hiking the mountains, etc.
