WAFT Iron Feather

What happens when the reel seat of your WAFT Iron Feather breaks?Replace it with a Fuji 22mm Trigger of course!


Rebuilt butt section: 21.5mm butt extension, 22mm Fuji Trigger, Heatshrink covering EVA, Stainless Steel Rubbing Ring, Wooden Butt Cap.

Not my rod, fixed it for a friend.


I am talking under correction here, but his confidence in the stock standard reel seat is shaken.  He wanted a more reliable, "trusted" reel seat fitted onto the rod.

Haha, not any time soon I'm afraid, but thanks for the compliment!


Going to post a few pics of my final builds now.  Have to concentrate a bit on my "day job" and take a break from building rods.

Exactly the reson why I don't like the trigger winches. The normal winches is just motch stronger. Which guides do you have on the rod?

I have had a few wafts , including a iron feather I bought second hand , I actually stil have the iron feather . My seat is fine .


I do suspect , that for one , it's a crappy real seat .
And two , because of the design of this specific reel seats ,your reel foot that fits inside the  seat , is very shallow , too shallow IMO .


So the damage occurs when you remove your reel from the rod ,  if you loosen up the seat  and your reel would get pushed or 'falls' towards you , the reel foot wedges the seat open and eventually will start to tear on the sides , I make a point of it to push the reel upwards towards the tip of the rod , push it up . As I said mine is stil fine after n number of years , the guides couple be better , I had to replace my tip eye .

Exactly my point lenny. For me I don't feel any difference between the trigger or the normal reel seat. Maybe I am just to use to the old shcool stuff. On the other hand many guys who prever to use a trigger has smaller hand.

I have never had a problem with my Fugi trigger reelseats. Its nice when casting big baits and more comftarble to straight stick..
Like lenny said, mine broke on the side. Was on the first fish so it was not from wear and tear.
I only replaced the tip guide with a fugi Alconite.
