Flag? Spill the beans Richard!
Dodger, I read your caption bellow about when you die and your fishing tackle and it reminded me of my Grandfather who died 12 years ago. This man lived for fishing and was also active with the royal navy from beginning to end of the 2nd world war. He was also a character of note as this short story will illustrate. Towards the end of his life he pulled me aside and asked me to please take his ashes to NO1 off Durban when the time came for this to be done. He then proceeded to tell me about the good old days again and all the various hundred and thousands of fish he had caught around NO1in his time. I replied that I would do the dues and that I understood why he wanted to go there since he had such fond memories of the place. There followed a silence of biblical proportions and then a look of dismay and some choice word about how abysmal (WTF?) my IQ was. He clearly thought his genes had not been forwarded at that moment. He then preceded to tell me his reasoning. He said no that actually what would happen once I had spread his ashes was that the little fish would eat his ashes, the bigger fish would eat the little fish, then the sharks would eat the big fish, the Japs would then catch the sharks which would then end up as shark fin soup in some elite restuarant in Japan and there the soup would be consumed by a Geisha girl. He then declared proudly that this was his way of getting back inside a Geisha girl. At that stage, I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we were related.I miss you Gramps.
