I will try to make a short report as well

Maguro was the first boat in the water...at 4:35 we were all set up and launched...and waited till 5:30 for the departure signal...
at the departure signal and trying to win the race...we noticed that the board engine couldn't hold the revs up...
I thought the reason could be one of 2 (as I had made 2 changes on the engines)
- mounted the water separators
- mounted new props
first test...remove the water separators...engine was sill failing
second test...replace the props...engine was still failing
so we decided to place the boat back in the trailler and open the carburators...for a "quick" check
we found out that carburators were dirty...and cleaned them in 3h...also replaced the spark plugs (they were replaced 30h ago)

we waited for a lauching opening (a few boats were ahead of us in the list)...and by 9h we call Naval on the radio to say that we were OK to proceed to the fishing grounds
at this time of the day sea was flat and we had a 1:10min to the Northern points (same as Maximvs)
we had the same plan...work a bit on the species on that area...and then going to the deep to try for a chance on billfish

we had 4 rappies in the water and 10min after we were on on a small rat cuta...that fought like a big one...it was good fun for Prego
we kept working the area for a while and we were on again...this time a bigger cuta that didn't give Prego a fight...was gaffed in a few minutes...and with the teeths pointing to my "lower body" I had a nice and slowmotion crash aboard trying to escape from the toothies
it was a laugh

we worked the area for a bit more with no more luck...it was late already for that kind of fishing...so we decided to head deep to some cannyons Shag gave us...at the 60mts mark we saw a marlin free jumping ahead of us...and went to try our luck...but no luck

in terms of bait and birds activity we saw very little action...a lot of birds resting at the surface...but nearly none going for the bait

when we got to the cannyon and after working the area for a while we had a loooooonnnnnnnnggggggg run on a small kona....and when I asked Prego to turn the boat to start following the fish...I realized that line got loose....
reeled in the line (about 300mts probably) and realized that the texture of the line was a bit rough...no maybe a bill...who knows

we worked the area for a while and decided to head towards Poço for some fun on jigging...
getting to Poço it was wild on bait and birds activity...and sounder was showing plenty fish...so we give it a try
Prego was setting up...I was already playing with no luck
both of us had squidy jigs...same model...same color...same size...
on Prego's first drop he was on after first jig action...
it was good fun watching his fight...fish was playing around and under the boat...we had to do some gymanastics going around the boat back and front with gear in the water so that line wouldn't touch the boat...and after nearly 15min we could see a glympse of the fish...a big GT was on
Prego was euphoric when he realized he was about to land his first GT ever
I grabed my gloves...grabed the fish and landed the fish for some pics...
although in a species competition and probably with a big chance for scoring high (and maybe getting the biggest fish of the day)...we both decided that a king need to live another day...so after a short photo session...and some revival swimming we dropped the fish to fight another day
measured 104cm~21.92kg (ORI table)

we knew we were not wining the comp...therefore we decided to give it a try for some more jigging and popping activity...with no luck...even with sore arms...blisters (we only wear gloves for holding the fish...and not for fighting...not good)
at 15:00 we call the day off and headed towards Naval...we got there at 16:35 with some choppy seas and wind blowing from the East

some joked us for releasing the GT...some congratulate us for the gesture...I was very happy for the fantastic day aboard my boat with Prego...just remember...in February we have the Naval Centenary...I'm counting on you for Maguro's team

water temperature ranged from 25.5º up to 27º...but average was 26º

pics will follow (as well as Prego's contribution)

big highlights for the day: Naval's competition director called me every 2h to check how my boat was reacting...great gesture that I appreciate a lot!!!! in total 6 boats had engine problems

Hi Marcos. Sounds like you had fun. Wish I was there. Next year. Give us some more details on the other boats and numbers, please.
If things don't change, they remain the same.
