My comments thus far have been 100% correct based on info that I have, and some is my opinion (as I stated). I have never mislead and never will. Reaper mentioned the guy's lic had been revoked, not me. Take that up with him please.

I don't want to start something with you that contributes negatively to this forum, so please.

If you know something, how about telling the forum? Seriously, we are all interested, it may well be of considerable value to this thread. (Most guys have no idea what the white boat is all about)

Unless JB2 is involved in the investigation with the authorities, there is absolutely no reason to withhold info. Reading this thread it seems like he is here to firewall and protect these guys. Why else won't he enlighten us? It makes no sense to keep info that means something to everyone away other than to protect the perpetrators. A forum is a place to meet and share info, not collect info, rebut comments that you don't agree with, attack other members and then offer little back in the way of what you know.

Some guys just don't get it.

I agree JB2, if you raise a point don't leave it hanging in the air. We are all on the same side and our interest is to prove that it is not us recreationals destroying the fish stocks. If it was worth hinting then please share with the forum. If it wasn't worth mentioning forever keep your silence and please don't do so again, least we will suspect that you might have an ulterior agenda.

Completely correct... There are some things you can just not say on a public forum without concrete evidence.  Like:

Those specific fish in a picture were going to Gauteng.  No they were not.  Other fish might have gone or were planned to go to Gauteng but not those.

DAFF officials were at the Macs trek.  No sir they were not.

These fish in the picture were confiscated.  No sir they were handed over to the Daff official as per the permit conditions, the "suspect" vehicle was actually a DAFF vehicle.

The undersize fish were being kept seperate from the other fish and hidden under a tarpoline because the trekkers are skelm.  No sir. If you leave the undersize fish mixed up with the size fish, the recreationals with their cameras come and say you are definately keeping them because you havent sorted them.  If you leave them out in the open, the recreationals come with their cameras and take pictures of how you are keeping the undersize fish and not handing them over.  The question remains, if you have a bunch of undersize fish that you have to hand over, and a bakkie that the fish needs to go on to, how exactly will you sort them?  Will you let the fish you have to handover/give away lie on top of the fish you intend to sell so they can press down on them? Or the other way around?

Money is being paid to DAFF officials to keep the treknetters going.  There is no proof of this at present.  What there is proof of, is that there are not enough DAFF officials to effectively police commercial and recreational fishing.

Trek # 2 - Naartjie: (This is older than 12 months I think, but is on   the court roll) Over 1000 undersized Cob seized and now a court case   pending. This is Robin's word's VERBATIM... this seems strange, as DAFF according to Cape Argus 15 July, can not even comment yet as they are still busy with the investigation, so it is highly doubtful the court case could be pending.

I'm not on anyone's side, but as i've maintained from the start, as well as with the Macassar Trek recently, call a spade a spade... Don't add ANYTHING on, because you just take away from your and everyone else's credibility.
Men... what lies ahead on that beach... IMMORTALITY.... TAKE IT IT"S YOURS!!!!!!

Let me tell you something brother, you type out what looks like a charge sheet and then say that you are impartial? It's your credibility that is in question here.

Let me guess, you and JB2 know each other?

Here we go again...

Marthin, Anel Norje from DAFF told me herself that the case was back on the roll..... :shk yes, so smoke that.

As for the tarp over the fish, I was told that by an eye witness who was standing right there.

Payment to DAFF officials was my opinion. I made that very clear, it's my opinion.

I never said that any DAFF official was at the Macassar trek. Someone else said it, not me.

Every point that you have made offers no evidence in itself other than your own words.....rather keep the credibility word out of it as you and JB2 have spent the last good 12 months trying to discredit me for my conservation efforts. Please don't deny this as your posting MUST have taken you much research to pull all those points up, unless you are keeping track of everything, which in itself proves this. Keep trying....

Hi Toppie
I apologise.
I have my suspicions that the Macassar trek right holder is not the only one involved in the operation of the trek.
I don't have enough information to say one way or another. I have never met the trekker at Macassar.
I would rather speak with a bit more certainty.
I had assumed that Robin knew what was going on or had some background or more information.
I was wrong.
We have done a lot of harm to ourselves as recreationals by launching into wild speculation.
The initial report from recreationals assumed that the security guards were actually inspectors.
The trek was reported as being in Strandfontein and not Macassar.
I realise that these might seem like trivial details but they go to the way that the recreational sector is viewed.
It is an open forum, other people do read it.
Let's get the facts before the facts get us.

I have only ever fought for conservation, I don't mislead, but what I do is post what I hear. I don't run off to investigate every possible piece of info. Most of it is pretty much spot on anyway.

And as far as I can see, it was JB2 that brought up the security guard/DAFF official thing. Anyway, I'm not about to roll over for any of these guys.

This just makes me more determined.

Whats with the attacking of RobinF? I been around long enough to know that based on the comments that I see, he knows more than you, why else do you have to mention him in almost every post you make?

The only harm to the recreationals here is this 'divide and conquer' tactic that these two guys are trying. Stand together guys, no-one hurts the recreationals by exposing illegal fishing. Illegal fishing in the same grounds that we share. See these posts for what they are. Clearly RobinF is getting under some people's skin, and unless they can prove with facts that he is wrong, then maybe they need to be quiet. As a peanut once said - because you take away from everyone and your own credibility.

Thanks Reaper, it's sad that some defend this rape of our marine resources. Anyway, this finger pointing in my direction has been going on for soooo long. They are yet to prove anything. And the fact that Marthin has gone so far back to scratch amongst posts to say that my info from Anel Nortje (from DAFF) is not as reliable as the Cape Argus, and this after he pointed out that the newspapers incorrectly reported that the Macassar trek was at Strandfontein, well that says it all. Eish, this credibility word....

It's the same  :vio from the same people.

See reaper... again wrong... Robin said certain things... it is up to him to prove it is right, NOT for someone else to prove him wrong.  You can simply not throw allegations around without proof.  For months now everyone is waiting for proof that the undersize fish that was trekked were on their way or were taken to Gauteng.  It was his claim to fame.  Not a single shred of proof about it... Not one.

And unfortunately when people do try and actually do something about this problem, the in the end have to sift through layers of  :nobs: before they can get to what is actually the truth.

The Argus said it was a Strandfontein Trek, because all over Facebook it was labelled as Strandfontein, and even head of investigations robinf called it.... STRANDFONTEIN!!!!  That is my only point i've had the entire time... Make sure of facts.  When we then do a petition, court case, or whatever needs to be done to reach the end goal, and we have facts and only facts, nobody can point a finger.  That's it.

So   here we go again, to the one that likes to call me a liar and the other   one that calls me 'onredelik' look at these photos taken at   Strandfontein recently. See what they raped??? OUR WHITE STEENBRAS   STOCKS! Call me what you like, how can anyone defend this? Guys, this is   a disgrace. Actually, it's a tragedy. This is why Trek netting should   be banned.

Marthin, don't start with me. All you seem to be doing is causing k*k here. Don't post that I am wrong....who the hell are you? You are doing to me what you did to RobinF.

You and this JB2 can cry all you want, I heard a lot of what has been posted here from other sources too. Just because only one oke posts it, does not make it rubbish.

As for RobinF and any other member that gets a fact like Strandfontein and Macassar (Which are on the same stretch of sand) mixed up because the first reports came out as Strandfontein, SO WHAT. What is your problem with a member getting something so trivial wrong? Atleast someone posted it, that benefits the forum, I'm sorry that it did not benefit your agenda and that is why you are really p-ed off right? Admit it boetie, you don't like your connections getting busted. Ag shame.

Bru, your agenda is so clear.

Marthin, I'm sorry that you feel that I am the head of investigations. I posted the photo's on here because I thought it was the right thing to do. I still think that most members here appreciated the fact that I did that. I'm also sorry that you have brought this mud slinging across from the other forum. And I'm sorry that the forum members here have to be exposed to this.

Reaper, I think you can see by the " :hyst: " just posted, that this is all about causing childish trouble. Just let it go.

This thread is teaching me nothing about my favourite past time. Yes, its always good to debate ethics and conservation - however, this thread is mainly about the scoring of points. Of course the issue of who is credible or not is continually raised.

I did a comparison of the main contributors to this thread namely Robin F and jb2 to check their "UA participation credibility" - and it is interesting what comes out.

Robin contributes across the forums and has made some great posts that are intersting. However jb2 has only contributed to 4 threads - and mostly in a non-collegial manner.

Robin F - total of 274 posts (150 re the seine netters)
jb2 - total of 88 posts (75 in the seine netters

Robin has 20 creds - and jb2 has zero

So, I am wondering what jb2 is doing on this forum really - his motivation is clearly not about advancing our angling knowledge

Look at the posts made by both of them (number of posts and nae of post)

RobinF has contributed to my knowledge of fishing and engages with UA "nice nice":
  • 150 Seinne netters and catchers

Ziggy i think it's ALL about credibility on any of the pages on this forum....  If you started a thread about Fishing for Tigerfish and just sucked things out of your thumb and sold them as facts, i would hope someone with some knowledge about the subject would say so....
