Marthin you nailed it.
The issue is that no matter how much good is intended with these nets they are decimating our fish stocks. All the best intentions in the world to manage the trekking will not prevent illegal trekking and our fish stocks will remain under threat.

If we are all on the same side don't understand the fighting and bickering. Please stop your nonsense.

Our common aim must be to expose all illegal fishing and raping the ocean as us/we recreationals are getting the blame.

Stand together guys with one voice we can make a difference. Some good research and cases cited here, keep up the good work!

Hi Toppie

I am to blame to a large degree. I insist that we as recreationals are as accurate and as factual as possible.
We have done our credibility a huge disservice with our whole: "Inspectors were complicit in the Macassar trek" story.
I respond to exaggeration, inaccuracy and hyperbole by insisting that we stick to the truth.
It is more valuable to insist that we are all truthful than to insist that we all get along.
I also have a nasty habit of probing gaps in knowledge.
I do this with questions like "What are we to make of the white and orange boat?"
If a person doesn't know what is going on then they will ignore the question.
I am belligerent and abrupt but it is regrettably a necessary evil.
We can allow ourselves to spin out paranoid yarns but we do this at a terrible cost to ourselves.
We allow any other commercial sector to simply laugh off any of the stuff that we say.
And yes, I have sat in meetings where editorials from Ski Boat Magazine that were inaccurate, reduced the commercials to fits of hysterics.
As I said, what I do is not nice but it like any painful procedure, the cure is worth it.

I must ask this as it keeps coming up. Who said that "Inspectors were complicit in the Macassar trek"

And also, questions don't warrant answering when they are meant as a means to try to catch out or trap a forum member. Sincere questions warrant an answer. Maybe lawyers just do that, but this is not a courtroom and continually trying to undermine another member has no place here.

I agree with Toppie, this crap should stop - it's distasteful.

Maybe you should state your profession and involvement for the viewers to understand where you are coming from.My 2c

I am told that this Macasser Seine Netter has had his license revoked and then reinstated in the past for this kind of thing. Apparently he also does A LOT of night fishing - which is illegal.

Hi Reaper
I have never met the Macassar trekker and I don't know enough about him but I don't remember him having his right revoked.
The night fishing thing is quite probable though. The area is remote and seldom patrolled.

If you know something, how about telling the forum? Seriously, we are all interested, it may well be of considerable value to this thread. (Most guys have no idea what the white boat is all about)

Hi Robin
I would rather not go into too much detail on an open forum but do you think that there is a reason to be concerned?
What do you make of it?

I don't get your reluctance to share with the forum. You clearly know a lot about this incident. I took Toppies advice and was trying to encourage some co-operation with you.  :dunno:   I'm not playing this game with you.

As usual, you guys will be the first to hear whatever I hear.

Hi Robin
Cool by the pool.
I thought you knew some of the background. Sorry.
You made suggestions that there was corruption or that money had changed hands or that a right had been revoked so I thought that you had heard something.
Please next time, if you don't know something then just say "I don't know" so we don't go round in circles.
You said "some of the guys" so I assumed that you were excluding yourself.
