I have no inclination to level with you or answer your silly questions. Just accept that your clients are raping our marine resources.

If you want to prove how big 'it' is, get a magnifying glass or leave the rubbish off Ultimate Angling.
Hi Robin
Cool by the pool.
I am no longer convinced that it is a DAFF official and I reckon that it is probably a security guard.
I feel like a bit of a fool but that is a natural consequence of making the assumption that it was a DAFF official as I did.

Hi

Should I not correct Robin?
Is it better to have accurate information or trippy stuff that has little grounding in reality?
It is a serious question.

In the photo below one can see the undersized fish with one or two larger ones. These fish never made it to the Kalk Bay Harbour. This the Arendse Trek. Anel from DAFF confirmed that these never arrived there. The scary thing is that it seems like this form of fishing is not only destroying a large part of the juvenile fish stocks, but also taking the protected species now in shoals.

Arendse Trek @ Strandfontein - note undersized baby fish.

No problem. So correct the stuff that it is out of line but do it nicely.

Hi Robin
That bakkie contains some size fish and some undersize.
The undersize would work out at least a bin and a half to two bins. The fish went to Kalk Bay but was not handed over.
The Arendses have spoken to the authorities about it to explain the circumstances.
It is really a pity. While it is legal to retain undersize catch that can not be released, it should be handed over to the proper authorities for destruction or research.
It is sad.  While the temptation to spare the fish from being buried in a hole and to rather hand it out in an impoverished area might be strong, the fish should legally be buried.
If I ask you again for your opinion on the picture of the guy in the uniform will people say that I am trolling or being mean?

Hi 2bar
Is that better?
I didn't mention the fact that Robin had previously invented a story that the fish had been driven to Gauteng.
Before you criticise me rather set out a nice "non troll" way of dealing with the Guateng story so  that I can follow it in future.

More from the Arendse Trek.

There are numerous undersized fish in amongst this load. An eye witness told me first hand how the owners wife (Val) was telling the workers to conceal the small fish under a tarp so that no-one would see what they were taking. Very sad.

Hi 2 bar
I realise that but you must mean fish in insulated containers or on ice in bins.
It is not that important since Robin had said that he did not mean that the fish was actually sent to Gauteng so we could leave it if you prefer.

I have personally driven a load of snoek to JHB from CT in a bakkie during the night in a canopied bakkie with ice...No problem at all ;)
Not much ice and no bins btw

Hi Robin
Can you believe that we are back at the April trek again.
Yup! undersize must be kept separate from size. small fish on the bottom. Tarp is good if the fish are not in bins.
What would you suggest for dead undersize?

Hi 2bar
I was asking a serious question. Seriously.
Robin had said that Aziz took them in his bakkie to Gauteng.
I still don't believe that it would pay anyone to drive 2 bins undersize in an unrefrigerated 1980's Isuzu from Cape Town to Jhb.
I am being serious I just don't think that it would be economically viable.

If I was a poacher and the price was right??? Definitely. Do you know what price fresh kob fetches? You'll be very surprised

I'm being series, its not hard to do and can be worth it. Take my word it or not...doesnt really matter
