Cape Vidal
« on: September 01, 2012, 03:44:12 PM »
Hi blokes.

Have you ever fished at Cape Vidal?
Some mates and I are going down, or up actually (i live in Empangeni) next weekend.
Can you suggest some good spots?
We'll be targeting edibles.

I've searched the forums etc. on this site and haven't found anything specific.
Either my eyes are playing tricks on me, or I seriously need some leave.
Or both!

Thanks,
Jakes

howz it jakes .....cape vidal offers a variety of rock /surf   fshg
>if u planning on tragetng :shd:  yor best bet is to fish early moring just at sunrise #dats da peaks tym for shad#  you must fish straight infront of the campsite beach (mainbeach) or towards the right in the front bay where the ski boaters usually launch ...

>just infront of the campsites ,,,can be very productive ,,,,as there is a deep hole ,,,which wll be rewarding if targeting  :grk: :gt:  on live bait

>night fishin the bays is quite slow ,,,,in which u can have fun catchin blacktails ,stumpnose ,pignose grunters etc on light tackle

>while walking towards the right ...towards the light house you wll pass a TRIG BEACON -4  (cant remember CLEARLY) this place is a lovly sandy beach  where you can targert a variety of fish ........further south .....

if  walk to the right towards the light house .....fishin off the ledges at the light house  _ ONLY ON LOW TIDE _ u wll be rewarded wit catface rockod..stumpies..specked snapper..yellow belly rockod..cave bass...sea barbel..southern pompano en more ....

#dropshotting can be done in the front bay where  u are likely to catch wave garrick en other species
#throwing silver spoons for shad in the mornin can also be rewarding
#throwing pluggs & poppers can be rewarding if targeting :gt: :grk:

^preferable baits for vidal are ...sardine ,chokka ,pink prawn ,makeral .occtapuss tentickels
^collective baits _require a permit_ sea lice .ghost crab.mussels.crayfish
all these baits work like a bomb ...for targting reef fish

*carry enough tackle while fishin on the ledges at da light house as you are prone to loosing alot of sinkers etc
*if u fishing at night u wll be lucky to be  rewarded wit a leopard sighting at the lighthouse.....))))glowing red cat eyes (((( -im serious.. dont be scared ...just avoid goin too close to them

one major prblem at vidal are the monkeys.... (bat (bat keep tent /doors of cabins -LOCKED - AT ALL TIMES .....keep coolerbags/boxes closed and never leave car windows open or un attended

apart fom monkeys avoid feedin other animals such as the bucks,,gennets ,bushbabies ,,and meercats as they r also loosing there fear for humans

oooooo forgot ....
mission rocks ...another wll known area for reef fishin ....target species are blacktails,,stonebream etc ...
light tackle is a must ...small coffee grinder en small rod ,,,lots of fun ......

if u have good company and willin to hit da tek ,,,walk left of mission rocks to a place called bats cave ...xcellent fishin der ...... :tite :lolo: :tite
