What braid.

Ok, so I want to replace the mono on my bass outfits with some braid. Any ideas? (shimano crestfire reels..I think :-))

Not a Bass fisherman at all, but the new Nanofil from Berkley is all the rage.

Thanks Reefs...I actually saw an advert of that in a mag yesterday. Any idea what breaking strain ?

The Nanofil comes in 6lb-12lb breaking strain...

  I used it recently at Vidal and in the Transkei. It's unbelievably   strong. At least double it's rated breaking strain. But because it's   slippery... your knots have to be perfect. Most difficult line I've ever   worked with to obtain decent knot strength.
  I found the best knot to use was a 10-15 turn Uni to a double fig 8. The   recommended knot is a Modified Albright, but even that slipped under   tension.

As to what lb to use for bass fishing...  :dunno: - maybe one of the papgooiers will grace us with their presence here....!!

Jaen, as mentioned in the other post, I use very light mono when fishing artlure, 2,1 - 3,5 kgs... The Double X in this range has the thinest diameter...  :tite

Hi Jaen... I fish almost always with 14lb Fireline( smoke colour). It is very strong and will give you good casting distance. You can beef it up to 20lb when fishing for big bass in heavy structure. Add a 50cm FC leader of between 15-30lbs( depending on structure) and you are waxed.

I cannot comment on the Nanofil as I have yet to try it out ...but I heard about the tricky knot tying...he-he

I agree with Tony. The Nanofil is the thing and it casts like no other. I use the 12bl for my spinning. The line is actually very uder rated and 12bl is actually 24bl. So get yourself the 6bl and you are garenteed to be happy. Just make sure your knots are good.
