Fishing in the East London Area
« on: October 04, 2011, 09:06:43 PM »
Hi there
I'm going to East London on Saturday and will be down there until Sunday 16th. I would really appreciate some advice on where to fish in the area as I haven't fished there before. Also what species to target at this time of the year.
I'm more interested in any type of lure fishing, light preferably and also flyfishing. I also have a fishing ski and would like to know if it is worth bringing down. I get sea sick so don't like bottom fishing but really enjoy paddling around trawling or spinning from the ski.
Hope someone out there can advise.
Regards
Roy

I heard recenty that it is quite easy to launch in the harbour and paddle up the Buffalo river. Fishing for kob is said to be quite good.

Hi Roy this time of year it would be a good idea to fish the rivers on your ski, bring your fly equipment with you and troll some lures while casting, the Kob and Grunter are usually thick around this time of year and the Grunter are very fond of Crazy Charlies... You might get a Garrick if you are lucky and there should be some skipjack around  :tite please let us know how it goes!

The Nahoon river and the area between the Nahoon mouth and Bonza bay are pouplar places for Kob and Blue fish,The Gonubie river for drop shot and trawling for Kob and Grunter, these places are also a lot safer than the Buffalo river which is has a informal settelment on the east bank. This is the number of a popular fishing tackle shop in Beacon bay give them a buzz for the latest angling activity in the EL area .(zero four 3 seven486755)

 Thanks a million guys. I really do appreciate the advice.
We are going to be staying very near the Nahoon mouth so will definitely bring a fly rod down and do some river fishing, a whole new world to try.

Roy
