After recently servicing my SL30 and SL50, and reading in Reefmans tutorials that you should use a low viscosity and a teflon grease to service reels.

I have been using Wynns Multi Purpose grease- it is a dark green in colour. I didnt do science but does viscosity mean stickyness/resistance.

When I pulled my SL50 apart the washers and holder were painted in a turquoise grease, almost like a paint. It looked like lekker stuff, very smooth, not like the sticky Wynns that I am using.

Should I change greases? I think the sticky grease will give me less distance?

Grease should be kept away from casting bearings rather use rocket fuel yellow label. For everything else except drag washers I use sure catch reel grease. My washers I use Cals except on dartanium there I use newspaper

Oh Sh**. I put a bit of grease on the bearings, but pumped them with some 3 in 1 oil first. They seem to moving fine, havent casted the reels yet though. Where do you get Cals grease? That may be the turquoise one that I saw, its like a light blue-green/turquoise.

Cals is available from anyone who sells smooth drag washers. It is a normal brown coloured grease. Rather pull out the spool bearings soak in benzine and lube just with an oil. They will spin better this way

I use the Rocket fuel range. They have a very thin oil its almost like water that I use on the bearings that work with the spool and the greas is excelant on the gears.
