Be carefull when getting new tackle!!
« on: December 05, 2010, 09:38:56 AM »
I recently purchased some tooth proof wire to make up some traces for the coming shark season at one of the tackle stores in town.

Now that I have to work on Sunday to get the work done before we close for the holydays I decide to bring my tackle to work so that I can make some traces to get the time to go by faster.

Well I unwind the coils and start clipping the wire into 3m lengths. Only to find out that instrad of having 9.2m of wire like printed on the packet one coil has 6.1 and the other has 6.9m swr swr.

It is not going to help if I take it back and show them because I have allready cut the wire.

I wonder what they would do if I started unwinding the coils to make sur that I was getting what I was paying for.

So be warned chaps for the next time you get your self a role of wire you might not get what you think you getting.

Thanks for the heads-up. I purchased the exact same product yesterday and quickly measured it after your post. I only got 8.M and not the 9.M as stated on the packaging. I am going to follow up on this with my buddy at the tackle shop. It is not his fault but the manufactures should be informed that their quality control is poor.  :unhap

Sorry to hear that you sitting in the same boat as I am, I just hope that you come right on your side.
Let me know what your buddy says about the matter. I know the problem does not come from the tackle shop but from the supplier.

One should unwind the coil in the shop and ask them to sell it by the meter and then see what they say.

Now that you mention it, I also use this for my Rapalas and should make 9 leaders but ended up with 7, I though I measured wrong. Hmmm I will check my next ones.

SAD!!!! that we have to check how much wire we are actually getting these days!!!!!!

just one question?
why do you use the single strand over multi strand?
better protection? thinner?

thanks

@ Steve

I use this for the swim baits, I plat three strands together before making the trace up.

while on the subject of getting short changed, twice now have i bought a spool of kfga 500m and 600m and both were approx. 30m short, now if you selling hundreds of spools then you scoring hundreds of 30m, you do the math
We ask a simple question and that is all we wish: Are fishermen all liars? Or do only liars fish?

You won't catch every fish you try for, but don't let that discourage you, because the best fisherman who ever lived can't do it either.

How did you measure that ??? - 30m short on 600m ??
A bad days fishing is better than sitting at home moping.
