I have finally completed a long project of mine: a shoulder harness for light-medium tackle stand-up offshore fishing!
As usual, I used easy to find, cheap and simple materials. Here's what there is to it:
- Piece of shade cloth in the appropriate color. About 50 cm x 50cm to start with then cut to the right shape. Left overs from previous application. Cost: R0.0;
- 2 ton towing belt. Cost: ~R60.00;
- 1 x old gym bag strap. Cost: R0.0;
- 2 x SS spring clips. Cost: R20.00;
- 3 x plastic breakaway clips (from old conference bags!). Cost: R0.0
- About 50 cm 200 Lb leader material. Cost: R0.50 (?)
- 4 x copper crimps. Cost: R1.50
- Cost of tailor to double sew the all lot: R15.00
Total cost: R97.00!
This harness is adjustable horizontally (at the belly of the angler) and vertically (in the shoulders).
Let the fishing begin!
