Recreational angling permit for children

A quick question. My son is 13years old. Do i need to get him a recreational fishing permit? At what age does this become mandatory? Answers will be greatly appresiated asap. Thanx

Last time I checked, it was under 12's that didn't need a permit. Over that you need one...? But that was a good few years ago... Not sure what the law states now. It might just be worth your while to go to the Post Office and get one for them just to save you the hassle of being harassed on the beach...

That's how I've got it as well Tony and I checked this with the Parks Board guys last year at Port Edward. Just be carefull, if an under 12 kid is fishing they need to do the casting, striking and reeling in all on their own otherwise if you help them it's regarded that you're doing the catching and it will count towards your daily catch limits.

That is correct, Under 12 dont need a permit, over 12 needs a permit to fish.
