Help a newby out in Wilderness
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:40:51 AM »
Good morning gents (and ladies if there are any).

Im new on this site and Im new to angling. Was hoping that you pro's can give me a few pointers as to where the best spots is in Wilderness, what equipment works and what times are best suited.

The guys at the local tackle shop sold me a 10" rod with 12kg line and a rapala. He said that would work best if I want to catch leervis at Island Lake.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance and YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!

Welcome and hope you become an avid catcher and poster on this forum.

35 Five odd years ago when I jolled there Island lake was to fresh for leeries.

It would be wonderful if the tide now pushes that far up.

Very interested to follow this thread.

Anybody with more info on the state of the lakes please contribute.

Either I am fishing or dreaming of fishing!

Thanks for the hospitality.

Apparently the leeries are plenty in Island Lake. Ive been trying this week there with poppers & rapalas but no luck yet. Will keep you posted. Will be venturing towards Tows river this week between Ebb & Flow and the mouth. Maybe I will have better luck there.

Welcome to UA. I don't have any advice on fishing Island Lake and never fished there. I have lived in Knysna for 13 years and have concentrated on the lagoon but the method for catching Leeries should be the same. There are loads of info on the forum and use the search function to help you get to the threads. I will gladly answer any questions you have.
