A quick report back of our recent trip to Vilanculos...
This is our 3rd trip there and the one with the keast fishing days but still had a great time.
Im not too good at reports so pls, bear with me here.
Left on fri oct 18 at 7ish, crossed over the border, got hassled a bit by the schmucks but anyway we got through, petrol and all

no bribes though!
Got stopped twice on the road, insisted we want to go to the police station and we not paying any spit fines or bribes, they got dik of us and let us go eventually.
We pulled in early sat morn, weather looked great, rested the rest of the day, put the boat in at high tide, water was as hot as bath water, was fantastic.
Day 1
Up early, quick brekkie and of to kingfish alley to try get some geets on popper at first light.
Poppers, sticks, drop shop... nada, not a single hit and this was the perfect time, 1hr after high tide at dawn

Moved out to sea, tried a good few reefs, no bites, finally we hooked up onto a yellowspot king on the jig, our first fish of the trip and i gaffed it. Not sure how many of you have eaten yellowspots, but they make for FANTASTIC eating. There was a boat nearby and the guy told me that his a guide in the area and we shouldve put the fish back, i didnt feel like arguing with him from 30m away, but i really wanted to tell him to get stuffed. I can understand if it was a bludger or gt which arent that great to eat but def not a yellowspot. And they are VERY abundant in those waters. Anyhow, the fishing was very slow andwe called it a day, no birds no nothing.
Day2
Northeaster was howling so we decided not to go out, on hind sight maybe we should have.
Day 3
Wind changed to south easter, sea was very lumpy but we went out, took us a while to get to the deep reefs due to the chop but the fish was on the bite, got a 15- 20kg p bass on jig, safely released, as well as a prodigal, some yellowspits, many hits no hook ups, a good morning, wind started picking up an what seemed to look like rain coming around the point so we called it quits.
Day 4 and day 5
We got hit by a proper front, rain and 20-30kt winds, caught up on plenty of sleep, ate and ate and ate, and played cards all day is what we did.
Day 6
This was supposed to be our last day out but the weather was starting to look better from here on so we made it our second last day

Jigging was very quiet so we decided to run out to linene to see whats going on there, well suffice to say we didnt make it there. We got stuck into schools of yellowfin tuna and loads of skipjack whic keptus busy all day, we absolutely nailed them on light tackle and had a blast! There were some bust ups of note with the yft. Later that afternoon we dropped a saily on a stripbait, hooks didnt stick, and another later on which i think couldve been a marlin but again hooks didnt stick. All in all a great day with loads of fun.
Day7
Our last day out, basically a repeat of day 6 with even flatter seas, loads of yft and skippies, hooked up on a very very very big shark which took the islander lure with a strip bait, immediately took flight once hooked and literally did about 10 jumps going absolutely ballistic with flips and barrel rolls of all sorts, was amazing to sea, pity we didnt have the camera rolling. In fact we were quite slack with tge camera this trip. Fought it for about 20min and it finally chewed through the mono leader, had no steel as we were targeting a sail.
So that was our trip, here are a few random pics including some pics of the new boat as promised.
