A minnow pattern that got me a lot of Leeries this season
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:01:50 PM »
I used this pattern to nail a few leeries, sometimes nothing else was working this boytjie stepped in and did the job.
A Simple pattern that looks and move good in the water.

Mainly tied with SF blend and barbs on hooks flattened.

Brian, is that a specific bait fish you are representing there in your fly pattern or more generic?

Over the season we encountered large shoals of little bait fish. I tried to imitate the size of those and to get the color as close as possible. They had a slightly darker outline over a almost transparent belly.
The olive or peacock color over white helps with a sillouette as well.

What retrieve do you use when you go for Garrick, do you strip with both hands or just a normal retrieve? :cnfzd

Normally I use a medium long retrieve, but go back to next strip as quick as possible. Hardly use double handed retrieve. No problem with hook ups.

Normally Garrick's not a fussy feeder like trout or Grunter. Slow/ medium, long, double handed or short fast strips will always work. If it happens that you get a lot of misses then swop your retrieve to another.

But over all I have a very good hook up ratio and the hits keep on coming.
