Shad Close season - Confusion

Somebody said ealier that Parksboard write a fine out in Oktober and that the close season for shad starts in September - when i Googled it up it also show that September is the close season for shad
Maybe Gareth can explain this on : fish the sea  website, this is on his website

           Closed Seasons For South African Angling                      There is an overall bag limit of 10 fish per            person per day, no matter what species they are. Listed Below are            the closed seasons for fishing:
   
                   
  • Shad closed season 1 October - 30               November (No Shad fishing to be done during this time)              
  • Red Steenbras closed season 1 October -               30 November (No Red Steenbras fishing to be done during this               time)
  • Galjoen closed season 15 October - the               last day of February the next year (No Galjoen fishing may be               done during this period)
  • Chokka Squid closed seasons (There are 3)               March 19 from 12h00 - April 9 19h00; 12h00 23 July - 12h00               August 13; 19 October 12h00 - November 23 12h00.

Annexure 6 of the Marine Living Resources Act -

(9)     There is a closed season for elf / shad (Pomatomus saltatrix) from 1 October to 30 November in any year.

Yeah, Shad closed season from 1st October  :-)

As far as i know closed 1 October and  last day November months. ie midnight last day Sept closes and opens Midnight last day November.

We deliberately took our trip to Hole in the wall in September this year, as opposed to October, specifically because of the shad closed season (as well as the crayfish closed season....I think that is also Oct and Nov).  I also recall reading somewhere that the shad season was closed from 1 Sept, but when I dug a bit deeper, found it was 1 Oct as it has been for quite a while
