Which fisfinder to buy?
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:19:27 PM »
I need to buy a new ff for my boat im looking at a furuno 587 with 1kw transducer or a raymarine e7 also with a 1kw transducer.I have a humminbird 898 which i will use as a plotter with a navionics platinuim plus card but the bird is not that good as a ff offshore.Any suggestions would be appreciated. My main fishing is off Richardsbay and want to do some deep bottom fishing and gamefisshing.

Both are good finders either way you will be happy, having said that if you go the Raymarine route it will be best with the new chirp technology. The Furuno on the other hand is well proven.

How urgent is the purchase? My boat is 5-6 weeks from completion and i'll be happy to show you the Raymarine with CHIRP if you can make the trip to Durbs...

Radar is useless for KZN, only good for the Cape
