Joining of braids?
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:20:08 AM »
Good morning guys and girls.

I am struggling to find spools of 600m 20lb or 30lb braid in PE. Now I'm thinking of using Triple Fish Bully braid as a backing and Suffix 832 as a main line. Both would be around 300m so I would have roughly 600m spooled on the reel.

Now my concern is what knot to use? Or would you recommend stitching the 2 together?

If you have another option please feel free to share.

Thanx
Jono

Ps: All the best for the festive season.

Jono, definitely the Stitch is your first choice. It might, however be a real test to stitch 20 or 30lb braid? I have only ever stitched 50lb and upwards...
But if you can, this would be your first choice join.
Failing that, I would Bimini both ends (50 turn Bimini in 30lb braid) and join with a proper Cats Paw...

Will let you know if the stitching works. How do you rate the the suffix 832 braid?

Highly! It's good stuff. If my memory serves, Tommo has used it quite extensively?

It has this new Gore Fibre incorporated into the braid... (comes from Goretex used in Vascular surgery as a membrane to repair blood vessels) - claims are that it is more abrasion resistant than other braids...
