John F's DIY Rappies storage bucket
« on: July 15, 2010, 09:35:42 PM »
Here is a simple way of storing your rapalas/halcos in the boat again, it's simple, practical and cheap.

50 mm pvc pipes cut in 25 cm sections. Hold them together with elastic bands and put them inside a bucket with holes. Do a small slit on top of the pvc so the trebles sit there nicely...

When on the boat the lures get stored individually inside the pvc... you can change them quickly...

A few things I like about this one:

- As it is not glued or definitely secured, you can take exactly the amount of lures you want to fish with that day; you'll only be limited by the size of your bucket (in the bucket in the pics below I can put 14 lures)...

- If you have larger lures (e.g. Manns Stretcher or the larger Rapala), no problem... all you do is cut a longer section;

- If you need to put a larger size pvc pipe (e.g. 75 mm for Halco Giant Trembler) into your bucket, it is easy, just squeeze it in... the elastic bands make it easy...

At the end of the day, just wash it, let it dry and store it...

It's important to have a bunch of drain holes in the bucket so it keeps the lures dry while you are fishing...

Cheers!

Those glass crates work lekker too! Slot the PVC tubes into them. There is a plastic shop here, sells them for like R50.

Plastic crate also works well for this and it is easy to hose down after the day.

I have recently upgraded from the bucket described above to an old camp master coolies bag...

Same principle.... stuck 18 pvc pipes in there and can actually close the bag and carry it with the handles...

Works very well!

Marcos,
Brilliant Idea !

You also get the same pvc in a square form. This may work better than the round.
