Went casting this morning and I can't seem to brake the 170m mark with my setup.
I'm using a saltist 50, pentagon xheavy and a 8oz sinker.
No matter how hard I push the setup, I doesn't wana go further.
Any advise?
Ta

Hi Hooch. I must be honest, try and increass the sinker weight. I am fishing with a custom HMG Shark Extreme Heavy and I have found that with an 8 oz I can not get the same action on the road as with a 10oz. i know that it sounds silly that 2oz can make such a diffrence but try it. But most of all remember not to overload your rod and distance is 99% techinque.

Tight Lines

Shoo that xtreme heavy is a beast! I think I snapped my spine in 17 places trying to cast that thing I have respect for anyone who can load that rod

I mst be honest it took me a while to get used to it, but I have found that the three piece rod is a charm compared to the single piece. I kno of someone that throws a 12oz withhis. It goes a mile, and to top it off he is not a big guy. He has awsome technique. I average about 160m with my cast at the moment

the furthest ive seen someone throw the heavy shark extreme paired with a trini 50 was with an 8oz he just uses a long drop and is a tank and says that you dont need those heavy sinkers like 10oz 12oz for my 50 i use a 9 and my 40 a 8oz and my 30 a 7oz on any of my non ed rods
