Hi team ASFN

I absolutely love your guys shows and clips. We are goin to pomene for 2 weeks (27nov to 12 dec) solid R&S fishing. We will be camping at pomene lodge (not paradise beach lodge). Any advice for popping and bait fishing and especially where to fish. No boat just purely R&S. We were thinking of doing some fishing off the rocks to the right of shipwreck lodge. Is it any good over there?

Main target... VERY LARGE GTs.

Its also our first time so please give all the advice yoy can.

One more question.... Do you need a permit/licence to fish in pomene and where do u get it from? Would a locally obtained permit from SA post office work in moz?

Yaaseen, you will get your permit at Pomene Beach Lodge Reception, I think its currently 400mets.
Don't forget when entering Pomene reserve gates you will pay 400mets per person and 400 mets per vehicle and 300mets per trailer.

The areas to target is the rocks at the old Hotel and the beach area near the mouth, there is also a close in reef on the beach to the right of shipwreck lodge.

BigLes

Thanks a million... i am planning on buying a WAFT Iron Feather 7500 coffe grinder reel to do plugging and popping. Any idea how that reel is for the intended purpose? i cant afford to blow another pay check on a Shimano Stella or something. i plan on using 30 or 35lb braid with 60lb leader monofil. Am i doing the right thing?

If you intend popping off the bricks with the intention of catching big Geets you going to need a minumum of 65lb braid and 100lb leader. I have seen those Geets going into the gap at the hotel and they are big  :shk if you hook them near that gap you will have to lock and hold them away from the rocks.

Take a light spinning stick catch some wolf herring that are in and around in front of the gap and live bite them just off the gap and hold tight. :rck"

Look I haven't used the iron feather, but I bought one of the big waft surf reels years back, first day on the beach spent 10 seconds under water and the reel was ruined, piece of junk, still have it lying in the bottom of the cupboard. Not even a service from a professional could fix it... Personally will avoid any waft product by a mile. But that's just me....
