Boat capsized at Virginia
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:00:32 AM »
This Mercury this morning reported that three men were slightly hurt when their boat capsized 150m offshore of Virginai Beach on Monday.

NSRI said the boat was capsized by a wave as the men fished on the breaker line

But who fishes in the backline, and if you do surely stand-off to a safe distance?

Not about looking for trouble, thats garrick fishing, thats where they live....

I know of a good few skippers(Natal boys who know their story) who have ended up punching a wave or 2 when looking for garrick, its not ideal!! Just sometimes 1 creeps in from further back.

I have been on a boat where it happened, not fun.

Saw the boat being towed on Sunday morning early at about 8 am, Must have been a boat from the harbour as it was towed into the harbour...

Hey Eric, after I saw you on Sunday had another feeding session with the grunter. There is a fish between them that looked like a shad, then I thought it looks like some kind of scad... and finally I thought it may be a baby snoek?

Also heard that there is a few snoek in the cannal, and have seen a Barracuda swimming around...What your daughter say about the cannal?

Thats why I will not fish in the surf zone for Garrick anymore, far too many close calls. Glad no-one was hurt.
