Some new bream species for me
« on: August 08, 2020, 08:47:24 PM »
Hi everyone

I recently developed an interest in ultra light fishing. Got myself a 5ft6” Mitchell Pepastick and paired it with a Shimano sedona 500 and 8lbs braid.(lightest I could find in botswana)

Got permision to fish on a farm on the Kunyere channel to the West of Maun and armed myself with some worms and chicken hearts. Had a fun afternoon throwing small worms and trying to see how many species I could catch. Only managed three species and lost one fish(must have been a bus bream) after it took me into some vegetation. Anyhow it was a good afternoon and I will continue to scratch around a bit the hippos however do become a nuisance as night falls.
Everyone has to believe in something, I believe i'll be fishing...

I've always been a fan of attempting to catch as many species as I can... Unfortunately the region I live in only has limited catchable species available, fortunately the local fishing spots around town (mostly a small river that has been subjected to sinkholes resulting in a big wetland and neighboring pools as well as dams either on that river or its tributeries) has been populated by about 7 kurper species (5 owe their presence to a failed fish farm which just released the fish into the river) and a sturdy population of European perch bluegill and goldfish + LM bass, barbel and carp and three spot, straightfin and chubbyhead barbs... I've caught em all so I try get a new species whenever the opportunity arises... By the way what fish species did u catch there? A educated guess from me would say rainbow happy, pink happy and okavango tilapia?
