Gomexus Power Knob for Shimano, Daiwa and Penn reels

Thought I'd share this with you. In my quest for building lures I had to try and source prism tape, whilst I could find locally, the prices were a bit steep, so I turned to www.aliexpress.com. Found prism tape in sheets of 4 for around $1 per 4 sheets including free shipping. Not too bad I thought. Paid online an a couple of weeks later I collected from the post office, paid my R20 customs fee and VAT on the items.


Onto the next, I browsed online for other fishing items and found Gomexus power knobs - fits most reels in most sizes. Price was in the region of $24.95. I visited the site via their Android app almost daily until they had a discounted sale and purchased a power knob for my Daiwa BG 6500 in 41mm size for $18 including free shipping. Less than two months later the parcel arrived and the reason for my post. Paid my R20 customs fee and some change for VAT, in total it was something like R28.


In my opinion it is a really good quality product for a very reasonable price with good packaging. It comes with all the spacers, bearings and spindles needed for drill fitment. I will fit tonight and post some pictures of the completed fitment on my reel.

Dewald, Hi I have been looking for a knob for my BG6500 and could only find some costing around R300/400 landed.
Please let me know how you go with the fitting of it and possibly the contact details for the supplier, thank you Peter

Ok, so the fitment was not a simple as I thought.


There is a spigot inside the handle where the spindle is attached to the knob, so it took quite some patience to get the whole spindle out. Then I had to drill a 6mm hole from the outside in, about halfway and another 8mm from the other side in order to get some of the parts fitting together. It was a bit of a mission, but it's on now and all good.


Again, great product and very good quality. Will set all the screws with Loctite as soon as I'm happy with the fit. I must the say, the knob spins and spins and it's a good fit.

Hi there ... this is awesome. I looked at same for my BG5000 but with the drilling i'd probably just mess it up so laughed it off.
Thinking about revisiting though as you give it a good review PLUS will also look at adding round knob for my Stellas

Be careful of Ali's "free worldwide shipping" if you are shipping to SA... It ends up coming through SAPO and I have had 3 orders go missing in the last 2 years. I've always been refunded but it's a schlepp and you don't get your goodies. Rather go for paid courier and express delivery.
