Anyone have anything to add to this? really hoping to swim out a shad off brazen head in 2 weeks. Is a balloon necessary, saw an old ballie swim out a shad at Grosvenor a while back, I didn't take note of his trace though. He picked up a beaut of a blackfin . He was saying some shad take off and head for deeper water when put back and others hang around right off the bricks. Would one use a normal slide trace and just connect it to your leader? and rig it like so http://www.ultimateangling.co.za/index.php?topic=267.0 ?

Kev I would swap the slide for a number 1 power swivel and you're in business

Hi guys,

I agree that cricles would generally be better.

But what would you do if you put a shad on a balloon and cuta are around, 2 x 8/0 J hooks?

What distance would you put the baits below the balloon for:
a) Live bait?
b) Dead baits?
