Latham Challenge Tanzania 17-18 September 2010
« on: September 24, 2010, 11:34:40 AM »
Guys, just a short report on the Latham Comp that took place in Tanzania. The comp is organized by the DAR Yacht Club and this was the fifth event.

Our team finished 3rd the year before last and secoond last year. So naturally we expected to win this year, sadly that was not to be, however the comp was extremely well organized and was a blast.

What makes this comp different is that you run out from Dar at 12:00 the evening and lines are in at 6AM. Weigh in is at Sinda Island which is about an hour from Dar. Tents are pitched and a bar is available with a awesome party and a fish braai. Fish is donated to the local community.

Black Widow...fantastic craft...

On the first day we were lying fourth...the second day there were four marlin hookups and the boat Natasha skippered by Eric Roacher tagged and released two worth 400 points each..eventually we finished 10th which was a bit disappointing. It was a great event and there is always next year!
