Think a 3way swivel will detract from the lowviz look of the trace? Will probably also slip over the knot, unless you use a bead. The less visible components the better. 3 way swivel with beads would definitely do the same thing; the tee swiv is see through and just looks better... confidence?

A Fig 8 in the middle of the line is the same a s a Fig 8 to your hook - it will have the same decrease in strength. An overhand knot, on the other hand, will dramatically reduce the line strength.

this had me thinking a bit ...(and that can be dangerous)
 
...but is an in-line figure 8 knot the same strength as a terminal one ....
 
The reason I ask is that an in-line knot like that will be subject to pressure from both sides , whereas I see the terminal figure 8 on a swivel subject to pressure from the line while the tag end is free...
Would be interested in the results if anyone has tested this...
 
..sorry but don't have any know-how or equipment to test it myself...

At long last a solution to my dilema; I was eventually questioning my fishing or crocheting abilities, could not quite make up my mind, what with all the tangles.

Great Idea, similar to what they use on the UK. Now just one modification I've made, was to attach a lighter piece of nylon on the bottom loop. You the attach your sinker to the lighter line and clip the sinker into the loop. Now, when you hook a fish and it gets the sinker stuck in the bricks, you should get the fish out and the sinker will snap off.

Just by the way, a cheap way of making 'T's, is to use a nornal swivel, cut a short section of hydraulic hose, or use the tube of an earbud. PLace in the eye of the swivel, melt each side and voila a cheap 'T'.
