DIY JIGHEADS

After the thread last week regarding Jigheads .


I played around a bit , with TW jighead idea . [ no disrespect TW ]


you'll need this .


Some 2 part Epoxy or Super glue .
Small file .
ball sinkers .
drill bit
Swivels , Power or what ever you prefer .
pliers , piece of mono .
Split rings and Splitring Pliers .

Start  , by matching the bit size , with your Swivel size , I managed to get them to fit nice and snug .


Put your ball sinker in the vice and drill a hole , use a bit of Oil to lube the drill bit .


Clean of the edges with your file or knife .


Put the Splitring on the Swivel , thread a piece of mono through the hole in the sinker , and pull the Swivel up into the hole , the Splitring will stop you from pulling it straight through.
Don't use force or a hammer to knock it in , you might damage the Eye of the Swivel .


In this case I used a 1 ounce ball sinker. 
Carefully prepare you epoxy and you only need a drop or two on each side , take care not that the epoxy jams the working parts of the Swivel . you can alternatively , just give the Ballsinker a push in the Vice to secure it

Try to match the size of your swivel with the size of your sinker , if your going bigger , which I assume the guys was talking about in the thread , use a bigger swivel .
OR you can chop a swivel on the one side , only down side is you will HAVE to epoxy it and you'll have to use 2 obviously .


You also can drop a drop of lead in the hole , securing the swivels , you might need to have a steady hand to do this .


you can now use your Split ring pliers and get your hook on there .


I will for sure make couple for the coming season .

I suggest you  use Splitrings on both sides , but I don't think its a ' deal breaker ' if you don't .

Just what I was wanting, cost to import mould is ridiculous relative to the number of ear-ball jigs I will use in a year!

LENNY, What are you doning in my garage?   It's like you know,..... stuff  ? Guys, have been at it a while (the better part of 10 days, 17 hours, 24, sorry 25 minutes and ...... seconds) at buidling a proper CNC machine, as I too had an issue with importing Alu Molds from over the big blue. So, just give me a few days more and I could start making molds here? Received the aluminium cut parts yesterday, we started on machining some of the blocks (i.e. linear bearing blocks and stainless steel guide rods) last night, we are building two machines at the same time. Did all the wiring last night between the Breakout board, the stepper driver boards and the stepper motors themselves.
