Try to get as close to the dam wall as possible to get to the deeper water. The water is very shallow on the banks closer to the entrance, lots of small carp in that area but if you are after the larger ones get close to the dam wall.

Last time i was there the water level was very low and one could drive closer to the dam wall (just go as far left as possible after entering the gate), when the water levels pick up however you can't get close to the wall.

There is another private entrance that leads to the good spots to the left but we can only get in there because my old man has a key for the gate.

If you manage to get a good spot to the far left in the deeper water make sure you get as much distance as possible in your cast, we've seen this time and time again, close to the bank you get the babies and the bigger ones are in deeper water.

The dam is not known for it's monsters but there are big  :carp: swimming around there trust me.

With the season the Blou Bul had do you really want to try your luck fishing? Nothing will work as Pine Pienaar showed us this year...

On a more serious note, I know that some have been specimen angling there, and had great success with the sweeter TigerNuts variety... Its a dam where patience pays of, make sure you get a lot of ground bait in the area you target. Water levels are very low according to my friends in the area, but they say the fishing is good. Same tips as above about sitting close to the dam wall.

Love how the guys who manufacture  :carp: baits have everyone believing every dam has a secret dip and flavor. Use whatever you have in your tackle box, carp aren't food critics, they eat whatever they can suck up in your feeding area. Just make sure you feed the same spot from the first cast to attract the fish and they will eventually find your baited hook.

If all else fails, plain  :mili:, works every time. One mielie pit with or without a degie on a small hook and you are good to go.
