Thanks guys, Hannes the worrying thing is the absence of shoal couta(5-10kg), for the last three years I have put quite a bit of time in fishing for them - right place/right baits/right conditions and apart from a croc that was taxed two years ago I haven't even had a pull.....going back 7-10 years or so you would at least get a few pulls, land a few and lose a few to sharks or mistakes but they are very scarce......in the same area where I got this fish I have probably caught 30 or more fish over the years!!
Strangely in the last two years the guys on the south coast have caught a lot of big fish(20kg+) - more than the norm :dunno: :dunno:
Lots of theories around, without doubt the sea is getting knobbed but I believe in big cycles........lets hope the cycle is almost there :hnthnt:

Fished on Saturday, launched in the dark and went for snoek but the swell was up and no rips so the fish were hiding, got some live bait and headed south, managed one yellow tail kingfish of about 4kg which was released and a long over due couta of around 9kg which I managed to land before the sharks found it.

Long time since I have seen a weather pattern like this, days of south winds, not from a front but from a low sitting offshore...........maybe this will break the cycle :hnthnt: :hnthnt: :hnthnt: :hnthnt: :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :rck" :cout: :cout: :cout: :cout: :cout: :cout: :cout:

Took a days leave last week as boys were getting cabin fever. Original plan was for snoek. But after storm the lrevious evening water was dirty. Thanks to a call from greg that they were getting tuna. We caught some bait and headed to join in as had told Wade we are geytting a tuna today...... But in true HD form when we got there no tuna... So we headed for couta on the bluff. Had one good pull and wire trace snapped. Thants what you get for using an old trace.  . Already been kaked out by chris for that. And vorgot to put ratchet on .
Headed home. Still had a promise to keep... and that i did. Put Wade onto a yft to christen the new boat. And christened in style with a 28kg yft..

You know you getting old when you have to tag team a fish.
We launched on saturday and headed out to a few deep marks off the Bluff.
All in all we brought up 8 sharks alongside the boat.
I photographed this tiger as it was the first time i'd ever caught a shark by it tail.
I'm walking around like an old man now, my back is still buggered.

How did you all go in the comp?? I see some good numbers of shoal couta were caught in the last few days.....maybe the cycle has turned fully :hnthnt:
Lots of fish off Umdloti and even Coopers-Toti had good numbers - some at No1.
