Toppie, I went past Multiquip, they do not stock SS fastening buckles and dont know of anyone who stocks them. What they did suggest as the next best alternative a 25mm fully SS ratchet strap @R94 ex, but 60 might be a bit heavy on the pocket.

I was also thinking I use the bog standard (Midas) alloy fasteners on my duck and have done for nearly 2 years, and they are yet to let me down, as long as I keep them slightly lubed with Q8 silicone spray, in fact I think the straps might perish or fray before the fastener stops working, but all it depends on the application I suppose?

Chigger, want to use them for bum and shoulder fighting harnesses so suppose they'll get saltwater or spray on them.

One gets plastic/nylon type quick-pull adjusters but don't think they are up to the task.

Will keep looking, thanks for your trouble.

No problem at all ....what about the black plastic webbing type, the type they use on back packs ...or is that what you are referring to as the plastic ones?

If there is anyone looking to respray their Saltist reels you can try Kal Gard in Pinetown

Gun-Kote 16/2 is a range of coatings which are specially developed for the coating of steel ammunition boxes, mortars, cartridge cases and shells.

The coating offers exceptional corrosion protection at a dry film thickness of 8 12 um (1000 hrs of salt spray). As the coating is so thin it penetrates into all laminations on boxes greatly improving corrosion resistance over conventional methods. When used on mortars and shells the problems of too thick a paint film causing rejects, becomes a thing of the past.

Take it easy.....if you get it easy.......take it again.
