Hi Immo

I do not want to be a chop, but a bek trace is as diverse as they come. Bek bait is as diverse as they come. Time of month for bek is as a women. Time of year for bek = seasonal, but you can catch them all year round (off Durban). Bek can be caught in an estuary or to depth of 215m (deepest I know off). A bek bite can be from a tap to a steam train hit on a beetle in reverse.

Basic trace

Sinker 750g lead. leader 80cm  60lbs nylon to 3 way swivel. 1st snoot, 80cm 60lbs  to a 8'O kendal round. Lead  to 2nd 3 way swivel 100cm 80lbs, second snoot 60cm 60lbs to another 8'O kendal round. glow beads, skirts, condoms, dildo's, who knows.

Everyone will disagree with this trace description, but hell they are liars if they claim to have the key to understanding these fish 100%

Bek are a paradox :crzy

Fond regards and tight lines (because you will get them)

Keep on trying and be persistent and you will catch them  :tite . watch out for the  :brnz: they killed me last year.

On that score, never think that the  :brnz: will get full, they do not, move on. I am embarrassed to say that I stayed once last year and only gave up when I landed the head of the 16th fish hooked, I was lucky, the other 15 were eaten whole most with all the jewelery and lead too. An expensive and wasetfull exercise that I will never repeat again.

Natal Traces for Bek  ,well it seems you guys get them very deep , as we in Struis , usually get them [if they are thick] above the Kob , hence we use a light barrel sinker , on a handline , with a 0/8 kendal and a whole Pillie !
