Some times one wants to troll daisy chains a little deeper, say 2-3 m or even more... one of the ways of doing it is to use a deep diving minnow lure such as a x-rap, halco sorcerer crazy deep, mann's stretch, etc...
The way it is rigged is very simple... see the diagram below using demon Tackle's lures... the daisy chain is attached to the main line by means of a swivel (daisy chain) and a snap swivel (main line)... the hookless deep diving lure is also attached to the main line's snap swivel but using a much shorter leader...
This rig can be trolled at the propwash to catch bonitos for live bait or further back...
Give it a try!
Cheers

Thanks John,
Could you just leave hooks on the lure? Chances are the lure will get hit too???
-
Yes bennie I suppose you could leave the hooks on the minnow... my problem is if for some reason the lure starts swimming funny the hooks will just jamm everything... maybe just one... the back hook... "J" like the one on the ondas... it could work...
I usually pull this rig just below the propwash... lots of turbulence...

Thanks John, I will give this a go, I tried a few years ago to run some small feathers tied directly to a swilvel at the back of the lure but that was a mess. This looks much better. :tkx:

I am interested to see how this works

The secret is to have the minnow lure swimming properly... Rapalas run true almost 99.9% of the time... the others sometimes do jam....
It works!

Hi John
This just again shows that there is lots of ingenuity in fishing. Excellent, I will try this out as the theory makes sense. You will most probably first to try ,let us know how it works please.

Have done it before but by simply slipping Sabiki with hanmans noose over back treble of Rappie/Halco etc.
Did pick up Bonnies and had a Wahoo smash the Purple Rappie with sabiki's in tow.
It Works.

Big Van,
It works very well with the smaller rapala (Magnum 9 cm and the 14 cm)... I've yet to try other brands (halco, etc)... just remember, the rapala leader is much shorter... put it out it the propwash and let it do its magic! My daisies for this position are usually pink or black/purple...
