Post by: ebrahim on December 20, 2011, 02:19:42 PM
Hiya...

decide what to target, if small fish around there is no need for a thick lifeless cable holding your bait. as in when the water is calm and you need to apply more thought as to HOW you are going to trick the fish into taking your bait.

fluorocarbon line is relatively expensive but NOT required in color water (milky, pea soup, ginger beer) generally a clear white/ clear green/blue line is acceptable.

line diameter/weight in kg

*0.55-0.6 18-21kg
*0.7mm 27-33kg
*0.8mm 32-36kg

the line weights are an indication as manufacturers breaking strain differ quite a bit.

our predominant inshore edible fish in the cape...

COB
*0.55-0.6mm in the surf
*0.7mm for bigger specimens
*0.8mm off the rocks

ELF
*0.6 with bite sleeve.piano wire can also be used when you intend to re-use your trace.

GEELBEK- cape salmon
*0.7mm 27.kg these guys have teeth!

WHITE STUMP
*0.5-0.6mm

WHITE STEENBRASS
*0.55-0.7mm

GALJOEN
*0.5-0.6mm

HOTTIE
*0.5-0.6mm

constantly check wear on your trace as you do not want to loose a prized fish.also check that your knots match the manufacturers recommendations.trace length.longer in flat water to help induce movementshorter in heavier water.hope this helps someone
