Tuna, the video above is how to throw a 12ft Castnet... something very difficult to do.
The one most of us use is the 6 ft one... here is the Vid I learnt from on how to throw a 6ft one, nice and simple...

To get your net to spread is the easy part. To get your net to spread over the fish is a different story. :hehe: This is an art on it's own and you will have to practise your "Egret" walk. :creep: Why is it that you will always get very close to them when you don't have your net with you? :caveman:

How far would you say you can you through that big net Deisel, say from the middle of the spread net back to your feet?
-
I would guess that he throws the 12ft one about 6 or 7m?

Tony
thats great stuff there.
i have a 6 foot and 5.5 foot net.
6 is back breaker if you do it too much
5.5 foot is just lekker.

Good video that, i think the mono castnets are a bit easier to throw as well verses the cotton type , much lighter and tend to spread out better but they dont last if u snag any rocks etc under the water .. no easy feat throwing a 12 ft net takes a lot of patience and hard work and if u been stalking mullet all day u going to feel it for sure.

It depends I had a 6ft cotton net from when I was about eight. My dad bought me it to ensure a steady flow of live bait for himself and although it did tire you out a bit quicker I was able to gooi it pretty far when wet, sadly it now in action in the kei under the light fingers of some other bugger.
That 12 foot net looks the business just bit intimidating. Has anyone seen Jose from Spanish Fly throw that monster net from his boat for Livies?
