- I have three spinning rods – and when I go fishing I like to carry two of either a 6’, 8’6’ or 10’ depending on location and surf conditions. My problem was always having to leave one on the rocks or on the beach while using the other. So I came up with this solution
I took (what some of the hard men in KZN) call a “vaalie bag” and cable tied a light PVC pipe on the side. I cut a slot into the pipe which holds the reel in place so that the rod does not hang loosely or rattle around.
I have looked for an alternative to the vaalie bag – but found nothing yet – I may just make one myself with the right compartments to suit the kind of tackle I carry (and other stuff)
So now I can walk with both rods – and change any time I want. Makes life a lot easier!
I keep thinking of carrying all three rods – but that’s just being silly

great thinking Ziggy...but quick question does that rod not get in the way at time with casting and so on?
-
I cast on my right - never a problem

That is a very good idea Ziggy. How much is a vaalie bag?

I bought it about 4 years ago - it was less than R100 if I recall
