Title: SHIMANO TRINI service question?
Post by: Christo on February 22, 2011, 12:37:02 PM
I read the service and maintanance tutorial that Reefman posted and I would like to know in removing the tension dial plastic gear on the RHS plate, the small plastic gear on the spool shaft was left,
Is there a specific reason for this OR can I remove it as well?

Christo, I don't think there's any need to remove it. The spool is probably in a perfectly balanced state with the gear in place, so removing it, it might unbalance the spool by a fraction? It's not worth the risk, in my opinion.

Thanks Reef, makes sense, just thought by removing it the spool will get a tad lighter, like you say not worth the risk.
